BRITISH STANDARD PIPE (BSP)
We offer the British Standard Pipe (BSP), also commonly referred to as Whitworth threads, which have been internationally adopted for connecting pipe fittings and adapters. This standard has been adopted in plumbing and pipe fitting, the world over, with a few exceptions i.e. Canada and the United States, where National Pipe Thread (NPT) and related threads are the primarily used. Applications for BSP in North America are predominately on imported equipment.
BSP pipe is comprised of two substyles:
- British Standard Pipe Thread (BSPT), which is a popular fitting in China and Japan; and
- 2British Standard Parallel Pipe (BSPP) which is popular in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and parts of Asia.
Both BSPT and BSPP connections use an O-ring and create a metal to metal seal using opposing angled surfaces, the angle of the seating surface is 60°. Differentiating BSPT from NPT can be difficult as they are both tapered and largely identical apart from BSPT threads having a 55° angle from root to crest, whereas NPT has an angle of 60°. BSPP is more easily identifiable due to its parallel threads and bonded seal ring.

CODE 61/62
We offer the commonly used connections Code 61 & Code 62, which are typically used to connect larger sizes of hose and tubing in fluid power systems where high pressures are required and/or space is a limiting factor.

JIS/JIC
We offer both Joint Industry Council (JIC) and Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) flared fittings, both of which use metal to metal angled surfaces to create a seal. JIC connections are widely used in fluid power and fuel delivery systems, particularly when systems require pressure upwards of 690 bar (10,000 psi); while JIS are functionally interchangeable with BSPP making them suitable for OEM replacements on equipment manufactured in Japan and Korea. While they look similar to the naked eye, there are discernible differences between the two, and they are not interchangeable.
JIC and JIS each have unique attributes:
- JIC fittings have a 37° degree flare and United National Fine (UNF) threads.
- JIS have a 30° degree flare (and 60° swivel cones) and BSPP threads.
Parker also offers two additional varieties the KA (Komatsu flare) and the K4 (BS B5200) which are similar in style but suitable to their specific standards respectively.

DIN
We offer Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) tapered and parallel fittings, or simply Metric as they’re known in North America, however, parallel metric fittings are much more prevalent. Metric fittings with parallel ISO-profiled threads fit into the matching parallel ports because parallel threads only serve to hold the fitting in place, an elastomeric O-ring or a sealing washer form the seal.

Their findings led to endorsing connections with elastomeric seals in hydraulic systems.

NATIONAL PIPE THREAD (NPT)
We offer National Pipe Thread (NPT) nipples and adapters, a adhering the specifications defined by ANSI/ASME standard B1.20.1. Parker’s NPT threaded pipes provide a reliable seal for pipes transporting hydraulic fluid, gases, steam, and a variety of other liquids. NPTF (NPT Fuel) threads are available in a variety of fittings and adapters, however, are most commonly found on our black malleable pipe nipples; though they are often on stainless steel, nylon, PVC and brass fittings as well. NPT fittings have both tapered and straight threaded versions each designed for use with thread sealants. The straight threaded fittings are designed to simply hold the pieces together and must use a sealant to provide a seal, whereas the tapered threads, such as NPTF, form a seal between the flanks when compressed as they tightened.

O-RING BASE (ORB)
We offer O-Ring Boss (ORB) fittings, a fitting recommended by NFPA for its superior sealing capabilities in medium and high-pressure hydraulic systems. ORB male fittings have a straight thread and O-ring, whereas female ORB ports have a straight thread with a machined surface and chamfer to accept the O-ring. ORB connections are sealed by compressing the O-ring into the chamfer, with the use of a nut while the parallel threads simply hold the connection together. Due to their similarity ORB threads can be mistaken for NPT, and while the fittings may thread together a proper seal will not be obtained, particular connections between NPTF tapered threads and ORB straight threaded ports.

O-RING FACE SEAL (ORFS)
We offer O-Ring Face Seal (ORFS) fittings that adhere to specifications in the SAE J1453 and ISO 8434-3 standards. Male ORFS fi¬ttings have a straight thread and an O-ring, and couples with female ORFS fittings. Sealing occurs when the O-ring is compressed into the face of the female connector by tightening a nut. Parker’s Seal-LokTM O-Ring Face Seal fittings offer leak-free connections, designed for hydraulic fluid and gas in rugged environments with high-pressure, vibration and impulse.
